HALO Tribrid by Sciton

The HALO Tribrid is the most advanced laser by sciton, bringing you three levels of resurfacing in one single treatment. The purpose of three wavelengths is to target surface irregularities, pigment irregularities and deep dermal remodeling in one single treatment, so that you have minimal downtime and maximum long term results.

BBL HEROic included with every HALO Tribrid Treatment

We are committed to providing the best resurfacing results in Austin. This is why for the 2026 Laser Season we will start every Tribrid Laser treatment with a BBL HEROic at no additional cost. This does three things:

1) Pre-Clears Pigment: This broadband light treatment offers even more pigment clearing power by breaking up specific types of pigment before the Halo Tribrid laser starts. This means that when the Halo Tribrid triggers the skin to resurface, that deep broken up pigment is comes up-and-out with the old skin giving you stunning pigment clearance.

2) Enhanced Tribrid Uptake: When the BBL Heroic device is passed over the skin, it causes more water to come into the top layers through localized swelling. Because the HALO Tribrid laser is absorbed by water molecules, you get a much more efficient uptake of the laser beam, which translates into a more efficient treatment.

3) Redness Treatment: The Halo Tribrid laser is not designed to treat generalized redness. By adding a BBL Heroic, there will be an improvement in redness for patients whom this is a concern.

Why Three wavelengths matter

(and why the Tribrid is different than the Halo)

The amazing science behind multi-wavelength lasers results in a treatment where you combine three wavelengths to achieve comprehensive skin resurfacing without multiple iterations of downtime. The Halo Tribrid, with the BBL HEROic included, means you get a one-and-done treatment!

Long 2940 nm Wavelength - Barrier (Epidermal) Ablation

The longer 2940 has the effect of removing the very top layer of skin (30-40 microns deep) This is where older skin cells live, and where much of the roughness and dullness comes from.

The 2940 Erbium wavelength ablates (vaporizes) this outer layer in a grid-like pattern. This ablation is smooth and causes minimal extra disruption to the surrounding areas.

Why is this important? This portion of the treatment has a “polishing” effect so that you get to enjoy glowing type results in the first 60 days while the deeper, more significant, remodeling has not yet shown through.

This wavelength is also found in the 1st generation Halo laser.

Medium 1927 nm Wavelength — Dark Spot Removal

This is the same laser as the stand alone Moxi-medium depth laser goes past the surface right to where sunspots, dark spots, and uneven tone live (100-200 microns). Once a person has sunspots or brown spots develop on the skin, it is usually not possible to remove these without a laser or chemical procedures.

Why is this important? By combining the Moxi with the Halo, to make the Halo Tribrid you can speckle this wavelength in just the right density to remove the pigment while leaving plenty of space in between for the deeper final laser to go through.

This wavelength, combined with the always complimentary BBL HEROic, means that you will have incredible pigment removal. Going forward, any new pigment will be from new sunspots or age spots that naturally come with time and sun exposure.

This wavelength is NOT found in the 1st generation Halo laser.

Short 1470 nm Wavelength - Deep Skin Remodeling

The final and most powerful wavelength, and also the shortest, is the 1470nm. This wavelength is used to go deep into the skin (500-800 microns) for the purpose of tissue and collagen remodeling.

By removing old, damaged skin and triggering a wave of new collagen to be made, it provides a rich environment for the body to lay these fibers down side-by-side, which is a healthier state than the unorganized fibers seen in age and sun damaged skin.

Why is this important? This remodeling also happens across a variety other types of skin cells, which improves the overall “architecture” of the skin. The final results are seen 60-90 days after the treatment. Because aging and sun exposure continue to happen, most people will make this an annual treatment in order to stay on top of any changes that occur.

This wavelength is also found in the 1st generation Halo laser.

The Halo laser was the 1st generation Erbium laser by Sciton. It is an excellent laser, and one we still use on an almost daily basis. The Halo Tribrid is the 2nd generation Erbium laser by Sciton, and it includes an additional 1247 laser that specifically targets pigment (this laser by itself is known as the Moxi).

Some people will ask “Why combine these instead of just doing two lasers-or just do one or the other?” This is a great question, and here are a few reasons why you might choose the Halo Tribrid over the Halo:

Synced Healing: It certainly is possible to do the Halo and then the Moxi, or vice-versa. However, when you do these at one time, the skin healing at both the superficial and deep layers happens in tandem, allowing for more even remodeling.

Melasma and Uneven Pigment: For patients that have melasma or broad areas of uneven pigment, this Halo Tribrid is able to more effective and with produce better results. (If you have little-to-no uneven pigmentation, then we often recommend the 1st generation Halo as this will do just great for you!)

Upgraded Software: This sounds very technical, but it is important! All lasers are run by computers that calculate how the laser beam is fired. The Halo Tribrid has upgraded firing algorithms that have been founds to be more efficient and have fewer complications.

Less Recovery: It goes without saying that one period of recovery is much more preferred than two periods of recovery. If you want the absolute best treatment possible with just one period of downtime, the Tribrid will be the better option!

How is the tribrid different than the halo?

Is the HALO Tribrid painful?

The Tribrid Laser can be slightly uncomfortable, though we have several options that make it well tolerated for most people.

BLT Topical Numbing: Topical numbing using a combination of Bupivocaine, Lidocaine and Tetracaine offers numbing that is quite good for people who self-describe themselves as having a good pain tolerance. For people in this category, topical numbing does just fine!

Pro-Nox Nitrous Oxide: For patients whose pain tolerance is a little less, or who may be a little nervous the day of the procedure, we offer “laughing gas” or nitrous oxide. This is breathed in during the laser and both makes the procedure more comfortable and takes away anxiousness. Many patients say that the Pro-Nox makes a world of difference.

Nerve Blocks: For maximum comfort, our physician and mid-level providers offer nerve blocks for the full-face procedures. Nerve blocks use local anesthetic to fully numb the larger areas of the face.

Zimmer Chiller: The Zimmer Chiller is a fan-favorite. This device blows very cold air on the face during the laser and you are able to hold the handpiece so that you can blow the cold air on any part of the face, neck or chest that you would like.

Is there any downtime?

You can expect about 7 days of “Social Downtime” and a full return to normal activities after this time.

Key Points:

  • Skin Peeling and Sensitivity: The skin peeling is at it’s peak around days 3-5 with clearance at day 7. During this time, you can run errands and perform light activities-just with the knowledge the the peeling will be obvious.

  • Sun Protection: During the first 7 days any direct sun will be painful. During the rest of the month, direct sun will be sensitive. We will guide you on sun protection with a hat, sunscreen and avoiding the heat of the day.

  • Post-Treatment Care: We provide aftercare that includes gentle cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. You can also purchase the Procedure Enhancement Kit from Alastin for a reduced price.

  • Skincare and Makeup: You can usually start using skincare products and makeup again after 7 days.

How much does a Halo Tribrid laser cost?

  • Face + Neck: $1,600

  • Face + Neck + Chest: $2,000

  • BBL HEROic: Included (for 2026 Laser Season)

How often will I need a treatment?

You may need 1-2 treatments at first, depending on your skin issue. After that, one treatment every year helps keep your skin looking younger and even-toned (If you would like a treatment that requires upkeep just once every four or five years, consider the Contour TRL)
