There is no downtime with this peel, and shedding will appear as dry skin which can be washed off and covered easily.

Chemical Peel FAQ

RESTORE A SMOOTHER HEALTHIER COMPLEXION?

Whether you have acne or acne cars, aged or damaged skin, uneven or hyperpigmentation, chemical peels can do wonders for it. Since they range from light, medium, and deep, they can treat a wide variety of imperfections and conditions. Chemical peels are a versatile and proven treatments you can use to improve your skin tone and texture safely and effectively. They’re sure to leave you with the beautiful, smooth complexion you deserve.

WHAT TO EXPECT

During a chemical peel, an expert esthetician will apply a special solution to your skin, peeling off its layers and revealing fresher, brighter skin. At Maui MedSpa, we use medical-grade peels to deliver optimal results. You and your esthetician/provider will work together to choose from the following:

  • Light Peels: Light peels with glycolic and salicylic acid remove the outermost layer of your skin. While your skin may be slightly red and peel slightly for 3 to 5 days, there won’t be any downtime.

  • Medium Peels: Medium peels with 30% salicylic acid and modified Jessner remove several layers of the skin to treat deeper skin issues like moderate scars or wrinkles. While the downtime is about 10 days, the results will be more dramatic than you’d get with light peels.

  • Deep Peels: Deep peels with TCA and Jessner produce the most dramatic results. It usually takes about 10-14 days to recover from them and only one treatment is typically needed per year.

How many peels will I need to achieve optimal results?

We suggest a series of 6 light to medium peels spaced out every two weeks. If you opt for a deep peel, one will usually be enough.

What do I need to do to care for my skin after a chemical peel?

Wait 24 hours to wash your face with a gentle cleanser and apply sunscreen along with a moisturizer. When your skin begins to peel, don’t rub, itch, or try to pick at it as doing so may cause scarring. Instead, use a soft washcloth to gently exfoliate it.

IS THERE DOWNTIME?

Downtime depends on whether you receive a light, medium, or deep peel. If you opt for a light peel, you can return to your normal activities right away. With a medium or deep peel, however, your peeling may last days or even a week or longer so you may want to take it easy and avoid social situations for a bit.

Am I a Good Candidate for Chemical Peels?

We recommend chemical peels if you:

  • Are bothered by your skin tone and texture.

  • Have fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, uneven texture, or hyperpigmentation.

  • Wish you had smoother, healthier, and more youthful skin.

  • Desire long-term results.

What Results Will I See?

After a chemical peel, you’ll enjoy:

  • Smoother skin.

  • Improved appearance of acne scars and sun spots.

  • Smaller pores.

  • Diminished lines and wrinkles.

  • Less blemishes.

  • A brighter complexion.
