  • BBL Heroic Pre care

    IMMEDIATELY BEFORE TREATMENT
    Clean Skin: Arrive makeup-free; no lotions, oils, deodorant, or SPF on the area
    Hydration: Stay well hydrated
    Medications: Avoid NSAIDs, fish oil, vitamin E, and blood thinners 24–48 hrs if appropriate
    Medical History: Notify provider of recent sun exposure, medications, or skin changes

    THINGS TO AVOID | ACTIVITY & PREP
    Sun Exposure: No sun/tanning (including self-tanner) 1–2 weeks prior
    Heat & Exercise: Avoid excessive heat/strenuous activity before appointment
    Treatments: No peels, waxing, or lasers on area 1–2 weeks prior unless approved
    Products: Stop retinoids, AHAs/BHAs, benzoyl peroxide 3–5 days prior
    Skin Condition: Do not treat over sunburned or irritated skin
    Recent Procedures: Get clearance if recent injectables/procedures in area

    OPTIONAL SUPPORT
    Antiviral: Start if prone to cold sores (as directed)

    HEALING & PLANNING
    Downtime: Expect redness/swelling; plan accordingly
    Post-Care: Post-care kits available in office otherwise have gentle skincare, moisturizer, SPF 30+ ready
    Scheduling: Avoid events immediately after treatment

    Alcohol: Do not consume alcohol for 24 hours prior.

    Products: Discontinue retinoids, AHAs/BHAs, and benzoyl peroxide 3–5 days prior.
    Skin Condition: Do not treat over irritated, broken, or infected skin.

    IMMEDIATELY AFTER TREATMENT
    Redness & Warmth: Mild to moderate redness, warmth, and a sunburn-like sensation for 24–48 hours; skin may feel tight or sensitive.
    Swelling: Mild swelling may occur and typically resolves within 1–3 days.
    Pigment Darkening: Brown spots may darken, then flake off over 5–10 days.
    Cooling: Use a cool compress (not directly on skin) for 10–15 minutes as needed in the first 24 hours.
    Pain Relief: Tylenol may be used if needed; avoid NSAIDs for 24 hours if possible.

    THINGS TO AVOID | ACTIVITY & POSITIONING
    Exercise: Avoid strenuous activity and sweating for 24–48 hours.
    Heat Exposure: Avoid hot showers, saunas, steam, and excess heat for 48 hours.
    Sun Exposure: Avoid direct sun; use SPF 30+ and reapply regularly.
    Picking/Scrubbing: Do not pick, scratch, or exfoliate flaking skin.
    Active Skincare: Hold retinoids, AHAs/BHAs, benzoyl peroxide for 3–5 days or until calm.
    Tanning: Avoid tanning beds and self-tanners until fully healed.

    OPTIONAL SUPPORT
    Gentle Skincare: Use a mild cleanser and non-irritating moisturizer.

    IMMEDIATELY AFTER TREATMENT
    Redness & Heat: Mild to moderate redness and sunburn-like sensation for 24–48 hours.
    Swelling: Mild swelling may occur, especially around the eyes, and resolves within 1–3 days.
    MENDs: Skin may feel rough (sandpaper-like) within 1–3 days as part of normal healing.
    Cooling & Comfort: Use cool compresses as needed (not directly on skin) and keep skin hydrated.

    THINGS TO AVOID | ACTIVITY & POSITIONING
    Exercise: Avoid strenuous activity for 24–48 hours.
    Hands Off: Do not pick, scratch, or exfoliate; allow natural shedding.
    Sleep Clean: Use clean pillowcases and avoid dirty surfaces.
    Heat Exposure: Avoid hot showers, saunas, steam, and sun for at least 48 hours.
