The co2 laser is the gold standard for treating skin conditions associated with aging and acne scarring. With fully ablative shots the co2 laser is able to resurface deep wrinkles, pitted acne scars, severe texture irregularities and years of sun damage.
This highly effective laser directs light energy into both the superficial and deep layers of the skin. As the light energy touches the skin, it removes small plugs of tissue through a process called ablation. This pinpoint removal of tissue then signals to the skin that it needs to heal and fill in these small plugs. Through the process of healing the wrinkles are removed, acne scars and flattened and remodeled, rough texture is smoothed over and new fresh skin is brought to the surface.

Full Face and body resurfacing!
Eyes: The peri-orbital (around the eye) area is a difficult place to treat wrinkles, bags and dark circles. Many treatments fall short. The CO2 Laser has an excellent track record of resurfacing and removing under eye wrinkles, which are notoriously difficult to treat short of surgery. Additionally, using the feathering technique, the CO2 Laser is able to resurface the upper lids and the crow feet which may go untreated with more standard methods.
Full Face: With results lasting several years, a full-face CO2 Laser is well worth the investment.
Neck: The large surface area and stubborn laxity of the neck make the CO2 a good option for crepe and thin skin. We are all about results and cost effectiveness, and the CO2 Laser outshines “skin tightening” devices in both clinical trials and our anecdotal experience.
Chest: Many women find themselves with sun damage on the decollete after years of accidentally not putting sunscreen on this sensitive area. Because this area typically has dark spots in addition to wrinkles and thin skin, we recommend a combination of BBL Heroic in addition to a CO2 Laser for best results.
Hands: Hand show age. This area is often neglected and thus often a “tell” for age even if areas of the face and neck are youthful. All of our full-face CO2 Lasers come with a back of hand treatment to help turn back the years.
Eyes
Under Eye Wrinkles: These small wrinkles are most prominent when smiling and remain while at rest. This thin skin also allows light to come through looking hollow and like a dark circle. This skin also responds beautifully to the fractionated ablation by both tightening and thickening with impressive smoothness at the end.
Upper Lids: The upper lids have thin skin both on the eyelid and on the skin covering the bone below the eyebrow. Age shows here through tiny wrinkles. This area is targeted with a lighter energy setting ensuring a safe treatment while also effectively rejuvenating.
Crow’s Feet: Classically treated with Botox, these lines extending from the corners of the eyes can be stubborn in patients who have had them for many years. The CO2 laser provides a deep ablation effectively pulling out and smoothening over these lines.
Full Face Resurfacing
Wrinkles (Deep to Moderate): Deep wrinkles along the cheek, smile lines, around the mouth and chin respond well to the CO2 Laser. More impressively, the CO2 Laser can target down to a couple of millimeters allowing us to “etch” out each wrinkle can be individually, making this a very customizable treatment.
Rough Skin Texture: Skin texture that is more than *two sheets of paper deep will need the CO2 Laser to effectively pull off and allow a new layer of skin to replace it. The CO2 Laser can remove up to the thickness of 7 sheets of paper making this an excellent option if years of sun damage have built up.
Acne Scars: Acne scars that are pitted, rolling or icepick need more than chemical peels or microneedling to effectively treat. The CO2 Laser allows us to penetrate deep into the scar, allowing the body to remodel the scar to a smoother and more even texture.
*The Moxi Laser by Sciton effectively removes the thickness of 2 layers of paper with less downtime. For milder skin texture abnormalities, we would recommend the Moxi laser to start with.
Neck
Crepe Skin: Thin skin that is crepe appearance needs two important treatment outcomes; thickness and plumpness. The CO2 Laser triggers an increase in both collagen and hyaluronic acid effectively providing both outcomes.
Skin Laxity: Sun exposure, environmental stresses, metabolic stresses and age all contribute to skin laxity. In addition to collagen and hyaluronic acid, the CO2 Laser also triggers elastin production, the critical component to restoring elasticity to the skin.
Lateral Lines: Years of looking down produce lateral lines that run across the length of the neck. While it is not possible to completely eliminate these lines, they can be significantly lessened.
Acne Scars: Acne scars also appear on the neck as well as the face. Though typically milder than scars on the face, these are also greatly improved with CO2 Lasers.
What is the Aftercare and Dowtime after a CO2 Laser?
The aftercare after a CO2 Laser is relatively simple and consists of a gentle cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. This simple regimen will continue for anywhere from 3-10 days depending on the intensity of the treatment. Your provider will go over aftercare in detail with you during the appointment.
For the majority of CO2 Lasers, the social downtime is anywhere from 3-7 days. You will be able to go about light daily activities, however during these days other people will be able to notice the healing process (This is why we call it “social” downtime). In most instances, you will be able to start wearing makeup 3-5 days afterwards if you need to cover up residual pink or healing skin.
What are the benefits of BBL?

What can I expect during a BBL HEROic treatment?
During a BBL HEROic treatment, a clear gel is applied to help your skin take in light energy. As the treatment starts, you might feel little to no discomfort as your provider moves the device over your skin. The pulsed light improves your skin in two ways: it targets visible blood vessels and sunspots, breaking them down for your body to absorb, and the heat helps stimulate collagen, reducing fine lines and wrinkles for a more youthful look.
Is the CO2 Laser painful?
The CO2 Laser requires topical numbing cream applied for 30 minutes prior to the procedure. With adequate numbing time most patients tolerate the procedure well. We also use a Zimmer Cooler during the procedure and immediately apply cool compresses and cool packs that you will go home with making it comfortable for the ride home. Patients describe it as short hot zaps that come in a couple second intervals as we move across the face. The night of the procedure it is common to feel warm and tight which most people easily take care of with Ibuprofen, Benadryl and a cool compress.
Is there any downtime?
BBL HEROic treatment has little to no downtime, so you can return to normal activities right away.
Key Points:
Skin Sensitivity: Your skin may feel sensitive, similar to a mild sunburn, but this should go away in about 48 hours.
Healing Process: You might see temporary darkening in pigmented areas, along with some redness and swelling. This is part of healing as the body absorbs pigment and replaces damaged skin cells.
Post-Treatment Care: Follow your provider's instructions, avoid direct sunlight, and use broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen for protection, especially in the first 72 hours. Some may experience mild discomfort, dryness, or minor crusting depending on their skin's condition.
Skincare and Makeup: You can usually start using skincare products and makeup again within 24 hours.

How often will I need a treatment?
You may need 2-3 treatments at first, depending on your skin issue. After that, one treatment every 4 months helps keep your skin looking younger and even-toned. Most people schedule one treatment after summer, one during the holidays, and one in fall, taking a break during peak summer. We recommend purchasing a package of three for the best long-term results.
